Once you have mastered this simple swing and so got the body, feet and rope moving, as well as the hand changes, it is easy to link it with some skipping. With an end in each hand, according to which way the rope is swinging, take it into:

1. Forward or backward skipping
2. Half time or single time skipping
3. On the spot or traveling skipping
4. Combinations of the above.

This means that particular attention must be paid to the throwing technique and that sufficient throws of various types must be included in the final exercise. Skills common to the other pieces of apparatus, those of swinging, circling and spinning, must also be practiced and included in the routine.

For improving throwing and catching technique the ball would seem to be the obvious apparatus to use, but though we usually associate the ball with throwing and catching, the technique used in games such as netball, basketball and cricket is very different from that used in rhythmic gymnastics.

Keep the arms wide apart, and on completion of the turn swing the right arm down across the front of the body and swing the rope across to the right side. When practicing this movement, begin with a couple of side swings as a preparation, and again before repeating the turn to the other side.

The rhythmic gymnast on the other hand has to make the throwing and catching techniques look elegant, simultaneously performing balletic and intricate movements whilst the ball is in the air.

In fact, the rope needs to turn over only once as this makes the catch easier and it can be followed immediately by a forward skip. Remember what was said earlier about stretching up with the arm and following through on the throw, and also reaching up with both arms to catch the rope as early and as high as possible

Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is widely debated. It’s estimated 2-4 percent of the U.S population has fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is mainly characterized by symptoms including pain, fatigue, sleep disorders, depression, allergies and irritable bowel syndrome.

Even though fibromyalgia affects several millions of people each year, the cause is unclear causing much controversy over the disorder. Many sufferers have done the rounds of doctors, specialists and tests with nothing to show for it. To add insult to injury they have been dismissed with “it’s all in your head”.

We are all familiar with schoolyard bullies, where the bigger and or older children pick on and bully smaller or younger children. In this respect the body is no different to the schoolyard scenario. There are certain areas of your body that bully other areas; these areas are typically joints that can negatively affect another causing pain or dysfunction. Ninety-nine percent of the time when people get knee, back or neck pain, it is caused by a joint above and or below the painful area. Thus often the cause of the pain is not the painful joint per se but rather a dysfunction in another joint, which may be as far from the site of pain as the foot is to the lower back.

When we walk or run our foot will make contact with the ground; thereafter the movement throughout the body is a reaction from the foot hitting the ground. Therefore, if a dysfunction in the foot reduces the absorption of shock and impact when the foot hits the ground, the knee, back and neck will undoubtedly be effected, potentially leading to wear and tear and pain and discomfort over time.

Food with increased fiber content absorbs a lot of water and it is not processed by the digestive enzymes. Hence your colon will have fiber waste that is bulky and soft. When the fiber waste in the colon gets mixed with other waste produced by foods that get processed by your digestive system, soft and bulky stools is produced. This will help in easy bowel movements and avoidance of constipation.

Are you or is anyone you know in pain? Has anyone looked at the biomechanics above or below the injured area? Potentially you shouldn’t have to be in pain at all
