How To Eradicate Stress

I have always struggled to live a stress-free life. I worry about almost every aspect of life and living this way has caused me a lot of problems including various bouts of ill health from time to time. I needed to find a way of coping with and reducing the amount of stress in my life and in this article I write about how I have managed to achieve this.

So what do I stress about? Well I suppose it is anything and everything. Women and my relationships with them; my financial position - having a lack of money and worrying about how I am going to be able to pay the bills etc. I also have anxiety over my career and my personal friendships. For whatever reason I also used to worry about what other people thought of me.

I am the kind of person who is classed as a thinker. I will be the first to admit that I over-think at times; some people would go as far as to call me a stress-head - others, no doubt, see me as some sort of freak. This thinking is very much in a negative manner and is a cycle which I have found hard to break.

About a year ago I was invited to appear on a national radio show to talk about my occupation which is providing an affordable DVD duplication service and offering SEO specialist advice, and also strangely enough helping an organisation to do with fostering solutions. I was due to talk live on this radio program at around 2pm. All morning as was my way of course, I was thinking and worrying about how I would come across to other people. I was afraid that I would make a fool of myself and would sound like a bit of an idiot. I also, for whatever reason, started to stress about whether I would be able to remember, under the amount of pressure that I was likely be under, the important aspects of my occupation which people would be interested in.

I was getting myself into a bit of a state and even thought about phoning up to cancel the interview. I then called up a good friend of mine who has always provided me with sound advice. I explained about the radio show and about my fears. He advised me to think in a much more positive way about the interview and to start some deep breathing exercises. It would, he continued, be a chance to promote my own services and therefore was something to be grateful for.

He advised me that what I needed to do was to keep myself busy. If I am very busy, I would not have any time to think in my usual negative way. He informed me that my main problem was that I had too much time on my hands, which results in me spending far too much time thinking and worrying.

This is something I had realised a few years before but had in truth not acted on. I thought about what my friend had said and then decided to get stuck into some much needed gardening. Have a guess what? I managed to do very well on the radio; I even enjoyed it.

Reduce Your Stress and Learn To Be Happy

Relaxing Zen Music

Anything that is taken too much is negative for the health. In small amounts stress is actually good for us, as it could help to keep you functioning at your best. However, stress that burdens a little too much could take a physical, as well as mental, toll to your body. Try to manage your stress in order for depression or anxiety to be prevented.

You may be asking yourself how should I do this then? The following are tips and advice to help prevent and manage stress.

Write it out, schedule it out, and above everything else, try to relax.

It is best to write down everything that seems to be overwhelming. You will find an organized-to-do-list much easier to keep track of than having errands all crumpled up in your head. Writing down your ideas, and putting a specific schedule and time to do them, helps anyone manage activities one piece at a time. Crossing out a duty that has already been accomplished is very rewarding and could actually help you feel more at ease when busy doing the other tasks at hand.

Focus,relax, and take it slow.

At least, try not to expell too much energy on activities that are currently not priorities. This is so that your energy is not so easily expended on some tasks that are not so important to you, at least for now.

Delegate, delegate, delegate.

You need not do it all at once, and you need not do all of your tasks on your own. Ask for guidance, get help, or pay for help.  When there is a feeling of being overwhelmed that is cropping up, hire someone to mow the lawn or have grandma come over for your children. The feeling of being obligated to finish something on time will somehow be eliminated if tasks are delegated. It can take the burden off of unnecessary worry and anxiety. Moreover, it is easier checking up on how things are going, than worrying yourself sick doing everything on your own, all at once.

make sure to give yourself some well deserved time off.

You deserve it. Acknowledging your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, is an effort that is necessary before getting on to the next tasks and activities. It reduces stress and could even put you in a better mood for doing the next task.

make sure to give yourself a break.

You need it to be more productive. It is necessary to give yourself a ten to fifteen minute break during your work. Go visit a café nearby, do some stretching for 10 minutes, or do something in getting your mind off work, at least for a while. This is necessary to refresh and recharge. Believe it or not, you can also stay in your work and sit with your eyes closed as you visualize a peaceful landscape or a relaxing scene. If you like you can hum your favorite tune. This frees the tension from your muscles and your mind.

Be cool and relax. This can work wonders and can make you healthier, happier, and a lot more productive.
