4×4 BY FUN!
We reside in a beautiful country! A country with exquisite scenery, intriguing places to check out and a rainbow of heritage to explore. Nothing is quite as delightful as a few days away with friends and loved ones exploring the beauty that this country has to offer!
One way to do this is in a 4×4!
The obvious difference between a 4×4 and other cars lies in how the vehicle’s power/traction/drive is utilized by wheels. In the case of a front wheel drive vehicle, the 2 front wheels will be pulling the car forward. When it comes to a rear wheel drive car, both the back wheels will be pushing the vehicle forward. In the case of a 4×4 it then effectively means that the two front wheels will be pulling the vehicle while the two back wheels are pushing.
Getting grip on all four wheels is especially effective on difficult or uneven surfaces. Envision trying to drive out a steep hill using a rear wheel drive vehicle. As soon as one of the rear wheels loses grip (maybe by ending up in a hole or stuck behind a rock or other hindrance, just one wheel would be able to push the vehicle out of trouble. I’m certain you will agree that this is not ideal! When it comes to a 4×4 there will still be one rear wheel to push the car forward, but simultaneously the 2 front wheels will also be pulling it forward.
4×4 vehicles have certain features that make them more effective all-purpose vehicles than regular passenger cars.
Let’s take a look at a couple of these:
The ability to travel on tracks possibly not accessible by regular passenger vehicles. If you enjoy the outdoors and camping, you will sometimes visit remote locations or maybe lodges and other venues with gravel roads. Even though some of these roads might be carefully negotiated by your normal passenger vehicle, some road surfaces could possibly be less than perfect (particularly in rocky terrains or on a muddy surface after a lot of rain) and you might find yourself spending your holiday in your car as you wouldn’t be able to reach your destination in a standard vehicle.
Increased ground clearance. This is pretty important when trying to cross an obstruction or when driving on a less than smooth surface. The last thing you’d want is for your expensive sports car to end up being excessively scraped when you are attempting to reach your isolated hideaway in the bush!
A lot more space for all your luggage. Have you actually tried fitting 4 camping chairs, a camping tent and a week’s clothing and supplies into the trunk of your passenger car? 4×4’s normally have bigger cargo areas to make packing for a getaway just that much simpler!
The option to be turned into a bedroom. There are a lot of 4×4 accessories and add-ons available. One of these add-ons comes in the form of a rooftop tent which can be put up on the top of your 4×4. Try visualizing your passenger vehicle with a camping tent on the roof… it doesn’t quite work, does it?
4×4’s can add a lot of ease and convenience to your life! Invest in a 4×4 and experience the life of adventure!
