What Survival Equipment Do You Need?

You will no doubt be aware of just how many different items of survival equipment are available today. Along with your camping equipment you will find that you have a fair amount of weight in your rucksack. This extra weight is almost always a bad thing and will make your time surviving much harder.

When travelling people will tell you to take as little as possible but when it comes to camping and surviving there are certain pieces of equipment that you will have to take. First of all you should bring a knife with you this is the most commonly used piece of equipment and for good reason. The knife is one of the most versatile pieces of kit you can bring with you it can be use to build other tools and also prepare food.

Next a blanket can help to keep you warm and avoid hypothermia, which is a real issue when you are spending a lot of time outside in most destinations. Just be aware that blankets usually take up a lot of valuable space.

Most of the time you can create a fire from your surrounding, so it is not recommended that you bring a bulky stove along. Even if you did take a stove you will still need to build a fire for warmth anyway. Taking a flint stick or similar accessory with you when camping is an ideal way to get a fire going quickly.

A good quality bottle or container for water will stand you in good stead and is an absolute essential of any survival expedition. The platypus is a well known water bottle that allow you to save space as water is consumed. This is great when you need to carry other items that you may have got along the way such as food.

Finally many people like to take an axe with a popular brand being Gransfors Axe. Use an axe to get a shelter put up quickly you will also find it useful when it comes to collecting firewood as well.
