Montana’s Finest Big Sky Ski Resort
Having everything that Big Sky, Montana can give skiers, it’s astounding that so few know about its presence! Recognized for it’s wide open slopes and small lift lines, Big Sky Ski Resort offers one of the biggest lift served vertical drops in the Usa. More than 5300 acres of ski slopes and trails await skiers, with over thirty three feet of snowfall each year.
Big Sky Ski Resort features twenty three lifts, 220 trails, and a 4350 foot vertical drop. The top elevation is 11154 feet. Along with the ski lifts, there are also two cable car lines available. While there are beginner slopes, most of the slopes are geared toward intermediate and expert skiers.
Big Sky has three mountains to delight skiers and snowboarders. Lone Mountain is the resort’s signature peak, rising to 11,166 feet. Both thses bedrooms and the livingroom have unobstructed views of the lake and mountains. The livingroom also has a queen sofa sleeper. Panorama with Brady on the left looking down the mountain. Above Brady’s head you can see the main peak at Big Sky (we went up to the very top of this peak later in the day, pictures below).
Big Sky Resort continues to make its mark on the mountain vacation industry, along with creating a remarkable memorable experience for winter guests. And one reader sums up the on-mountain food options as “granola in your pocket and water in your Camelbak.”.Many deem that an acceptable trade-off for enjoying some of the biggest skiing in North America. Ski-town airports charge high rental rates in wintertime, and your “car” may well be an SUV—great for mountain driving, but a huge gas-guzzler. Instead, rely on airport shuttles.
The two resorts share the same mountain - Lone Peak, which is nearly an hour from Bozeman. At one time, the resorts shared several trails and a lift.
For those who dare, the Lone Peak Tram takes the bold to the apex, with 3,600 acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and expert terrain below. Combined, the two trail networks offer nearly 5,300 acres of skiable terrain and the second-biggest vertical descent in the US, at 4,350′. Between them, the two resorts operate 23 lifts. Coupled with easy access to the slopes and an average annual snowfall of 400 inches, terrain parks and halfpipes, you can see why Big Sky has become one of the top ski resorts in the country and rivals Winter Park ski vacations for the perfect getaway. There is something here for everyone. Big Sky is perfect for everyone from beginners to experts.
