A Married Couple Gets Concerned About Their Abusive and Hazardous Drinking and Ponders Whether They Exhibit Any Alcohol Dependency Signs
Jerry and Sarah have been married for eight years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have some kids and so they purposely created an incredibly active social life.
The basic problem, it needs to be stressed, is that virtually everything they do for excitement somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the family get-togethers, happy hours, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and sporting events they attend are associated with drinking.
Jerry and Sarah Start to Take Note of Some Clearly Identifiable Alcohol Related Difficulties That are Associated With Their Abusive Drinking
If they were responsible drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a major issue. Because they drink rather heavily, nevertheless, they are beginning to become aware of some instantly noticeable alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For instance, just three days ago Jerry was apprehended by the police for a third DWI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. Furthermore, Jerry’s last two performance evaluations at work have been less than average and he has started to fail to recall what he does or says when he drinks. Lastly, Jerry has been going through sleep-related problems and his family has begun to agonize over his drinking problems.
In a similar way, Sarah has been feeling unhappy about things in her life and to cope with this, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past four years. In addition, Sarah has been experiencing a lot of throbbing headaches and experiencing terrible hangovers from drinking. Finally, Sarah has been feeling considerably less energetic when she awakens, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some unsympathetic criticism from her coworkers, friends, family members, and relatives about her irresponsible drinking.
Watching the Television and Accidently Discovering An Exciting Program About the Signs of Alcoholism
One Wednesday evening while watching TV, Sarah and Jerry went through the channels and discovered an exciting documentary about the signs of alcoholism.
This TV documentary was a real source of discovery to Sarah and Jerry because numerous alcoholism signs that were featured looked like they were indisputably correlated with several of the alcohol-related drinking problems Sarah and Jerry had been experiencing.
A Frank Chat About Drinking Circumstances Reveals Alcohol Related Financial, Employment, Relationship, Legal, and Health Problems
After watching the TV special, Jerry and Sarah made up their minds to have a candid conversation about their drinking activities. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social activities were related to drinking, that they were drinking abusively, and that as a married couple, they were beginning to see alcohol related relationship, financial, legal, employment, and health problems for the first time in their lives.
With thoughts of the television program still imprinted in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could be a warning that they are dependent on alcohol or possibly becoming alcoholic. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby substance abuse treatment center to find out more about the gravity of their drinking issues.
Focusing On Your Drinking Difficulties Just May Reduce Your Fear and Give You Some Tranquility
Paradoxically, even though their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was plain to see that Sarah and Jerry were at least dealing with their drinking issues, they were eager to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in discovering how they could notably decrease or eliminate the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to emerge.
When Jerry and Sarah went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next day, Jerry would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehab clinic located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the drinking problems that had emerged in their lives, they in point of fact had the most peaceful night’s sleep they could think of in the last six weeks.
Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and mentioned how effortless it is to lessen one’s fear and truly experience a degree of peacefulness by attending to one’s problems head-on and coming to a decision to do something affirmative about them.
